- Fabrizio Argenti graduated in Electronic Engineering (cum
laude) at the University of Florence in 1989, discussing a
thesis entitled "Classification and segmentation of images
from remote sensing by textural analysis". For his degree
thesis, he received the "Renato Mariani" Award, organized by
the Florence Section of the Italian Electrotechnical and
Electronic Association (AEI)
- In 1993, he received the title of Ph.D. in Electronic and
Information Engineering, discussing the thesis
"Multi-resolution coding and digital transmission of still
and moving images"
- Since November 2002, he has been serving as an Associate
Professor at the Department of Information Engineering
(former Department of Electronics and Telecommunications) of
the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Florence, in
the area of Telecommunications. From 1993 to 2002, he was
with the same Department as a Research Assistant
- Teaching activity
- His teaching activity includes courses in Digital Signal
Processing, Telecommunication Systems, Digital
Communications, Information Theory, Estimation Theory,
Signals and Systems Theory
- Currently, he teaches the course of Fundamentals of
Digital Signal Processing (Degree in Electronic and
Telecommunications Engineering) and of Statistical Signal
Processing (Master's Degree in Telecommunications
Engineering)
- He is a member of the Faculty Board of the Doctorate in
Information Engineering
- He is the coordinator for the Master's Degree in
Telecommunications Engineering
- He is a co-author of the textbook "Numerical processing of
signals. Theory, exercises and computer examples", by F.
Argenti, L. Mucchi, and E. Del Re, The McGraw-Hill
Companies, 2011
- Research activity
- During his Ph.D. studies, he carried out research (as a
visiting researcher) at the Digital Signal Processing
Laboratory of the Engineering Faculty of the University of
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

numerous international scientific conferences (IEEE
Vehicular Technology Conference, European Signal Processing
Conference, International Conference on Wireless
Communications and Signal Processing, etc.)
- He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Visual
Communication and Image Representation (Elsevier)
- He is a Senior Member of IEEE (The Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers)
- He serves as a regular reviewer, on topics concerning
digital signal processing, of several scientific journals,
such as IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE
Transactions on Image Processing, IEEE Signal Processing
Letters, IEEE Transactions on Circuit and Systems, IEEE
Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE
Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, EURASIP Signal
processing, etc.
- He is the Head of the Information Technology Applications
Laboratory, at the decentralized university campus of Prato.
- He is the author or co-author of over fifty articles in
international scientific journals and contributions to
international scientific books and over one hundred papers
on international conferences proceedings
