In 2017, Massimo achieved a Ph.D. in Mathematics focused on image and video authentication topics. He participated in several research projects, funded by the EU and by DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). He authored or co-authored over twenty journal papers and conference proceedings on multimedia forensics topics. All projects were related to the authentication and reverse engineering of multimedia content. He is a co-author of more than 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences related to multimedia forensics and image security. Since 2012 he has been a member of FORLAB, the Multimedia Forensics Laboratory at PIN scrl (University of Florence), through which he provided expert witness testimony on several forensic cases involving digital images and videos.
